Zeiss Ikon Contax S – World’s first 42 mm screwmont (M42) camera (and also world’s first 35 mm prism SLR camera).
The development of the Contax S was started in 1938 by Zeiss Ikon AG Dresden and were finished under the leadership of Wilhelm Winzenburg
at the end of 1947. On the Leipzig spring fair in 1948 Zeiss Ikon Dresden presents the first prototypes. The serial production started
in September 1949.
